Rau muống mình chọn rau muốn cạn, mua về nhặt sạch lá úa, bỏ gốc, ngắt thành từng khúc khoảng 5cm rồi đem rửa sạch để ráo nước. Tỏi tách thành những tép nhỏ, bóc bỏ vỏ, đập dập.

Đun nồi nước nấu sôi, sau đó cho một nhúm muối vào để luộc rau mà vẫn giữ được màu xanh. Luộc rau khoảng 3 giây thì vớt ra rổ để ráo nước.

Đặt chảo lên bếp, đun nóng 2 muỗng canh dầu ăn, cho tỏi vào đảo đều cho thơm. Sau đó, cho rau muống đã luộc như trên vào xào với lửa lớn, thêm 1 muỗng canh nước mắm, 1/4 muỗng cà phê muối và 1 muỗng cà phê bột ngọt cho vừa ăn rồi tắt bếp và trình bày ra đĩa, dùng nóng với cơm.
